The Bhakti Pillar of ANS
Serving the Community
The selfless attitude of service is a blessing you cannot claim. The ANS Bhakti Academy establishes a frame for people to qualify. As part of a study group you enter a process of self-confrontation and growth to eventually develop the consciousness of serving all.
The study groups form the nucleus of local community building and they apply the teachings to everyday life. People that have gone through an intensive process of self-transformation in the teacher training come together to serve each other and the people around them. All study group members are householders that have a job and a family. Their life is rooted in the local environment. Their selfless service to the community is fuelled by devotion and a heartfelt wish to further the common cause.
These groups are formed on the premise that a collective will always be more powerful than each single member. Within the context of Sangat, the Spiritual Community, we can gain a true measure of our self. Joining individual efforts will bring about an exponential growth in consciousness. It is a very effective way to learn about life and apply the knowledge in the world for the benefit of all.

One of the biggest challenges for me was to trust my capabilities to facilitate such a group process. Over time I have learned not to take people joining or leaving personally. All you can do is inspire through your own actions.

Not everyone wants to become a professional yoga teacher. The study group supports you to be a teacher in everyday life and uplift yourself and others. It is a process that we have to initiate and shape ourselves based on what we’ve learned in the training. It is a natural next step to live what you found to be true.

To me the study group is the vehicle to dive deeper into the teachings and continue to learn. Staying on a spiritual path without a support system is very hard. Daily routine takes over so easily. The group is like a secure haven that puts things again into perspective so you can carry on.
On the basis of the teachings and attitude of service the study group is a network for individual growth towards leadership and the foundation for creating true community.
